Crew: David & Michelle Wheeler

David and Michelle are a professional sailing couple and have sailed together for over 20 years. For the last six years they have worked together, David as Captain and Michelle as Cook/Mate/Hostess running charters in the Caribbean.

David is an Ocean Yachtmaster and has been a freelance professional skipper since 2001. He has many years of sailing experience in the UK, Northern France, Mediterranean and Caribbean and has completed 4 trans-Atlantics, 3 as skipper, participating in the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers (ARC). David also has excellent yacht maintenance and mechanical skills having worked as an engineer commissioning and maintaining both motor boats and yachts. He has extensive experience of running cruising charters in the Caribbean from Grenada to the BVI’s and racing charters both in the UK and Caribbean including Cowes Week, Fastnet, Heineken Regatta St Maarten and Antigua race weeks.

As a skipper he works efficiently and is very safety conscious, maintaining high standards in all areas of running of a boat whilst creating a relaxing and enjoyable experience for its owner and charter guests.

Michelle is a Yachtmaster. She is an outgoing and enthusiastic person with experience of sailing on a range of yachts both in the UK, Northern France, Mediterranean and Caribbean as well as completing a trans-Atlantic in 2005. She is passionate about food and loves cooking for people. Having originally trained and worked in the hospitality industry, she has found that the skills and experience she learnt there are easily transferable to maintaining a yacht above and below decks to a high standard, so that the owners and guests have the best possible experience while on board.
